On Giving commemorates a generous art donation by National Gallery Singapore’s former chairman Mr Hsieh, uncovering the roles of donors to art. The design centred around the concept of giving—allowing the artworks and reflective essays by Yeo Wei Wei to take visual priority through minimal layouts and restrained typography.
We introduced a subtle line element that threads through the book—quietly connecting page to page. It served as a metaphor for the lasting connection between giver, gallery and public.
To maintain timelessness, we kept the palette monochrome and the layout uncluttered. Fine typography, generous white space, and soft finishes gave the publication a contemplative pace. Our goal: to reflect the donor’s humility and the enduring impact of their contribution.
