Celebrating 150 years of architectural excellence, the L&O 150th book invites readers on a journey guided by the rhythm of musical cadence. Each chapter unfolds like a distinct musical phrase, moving between moments of history, projects and stories to create a sense of progression through the firm’s long history.
The idea of cadence became the organising principle for the book’s visual language. Each chapter is given its own colour, with vibrant strips running through the centre fold to create a visual rhythm across the publication.
Beyond colour, the layouts themselves are designed to shift and vary from page to page. Different layers of content—project highlights, the main historical narrative and supporting sidebars—each have their own visual language and layout rhythm, allowing them to enter, recede and overlap across the book.
The result is a publication that feels less like a fixed sequence of pages and more like a composition: structured by a system, but with enough variation, pause and movement to keep the reading experience in motion.
